Thank you from the Pittsburgh Broomball Club to everyone who came to Nationals in Delmont

Back last year when we first put in our offer to USA Broomball to host Nationals, we knew generally what sort of tasks we had ahead of us. We made plans for everyone at the rink and with vendors in the local area. Little did we know how much of this we would actually be doing on the fly, or right up to the final minutes before the first faceoffs Friday, April 7. I personally played 8 games over the course of the tourney, and for how physically exhausted I was, I was at least twice as mentally exhausted by the end of things; I’m sure my fellow board members feel the same way.

First, a thank you to Dave, Kevin, and all of USA Broomball for being communicative to us the whole way, helping a very young organization with all the details required to make everything look great and run well. You guys did a fantastic job at making our jobs easy when it came to how the tournament progressed, and needless to say, it wasn’t without some last minute stress that you dealt with excellently.

Second, a big thank you to Sean Greeney and D.C./Capitol Broomball. Seeing your goals arrive at the back of Center Ice Arena that Thursday gave us a gigantic sigh of relief. We know what you all have been dealing with the past several months, so to be able to get the goals back in total working order by Nationals was no small task, and we greatly appreciate it (additionally, thanks to all the organizations who were prepared to help us out in worst-case scenarios with goals).

Finally, we want to thank all of you who came to Delmont to play. Some of you had to brave some ugly weather to get here, including plenty of our friends up north who spent much more time in the MSP airport than expected. I asked a few of the people at Center Ice Arena this past weekend how they thought things went from the facility’s perspective, and they had nothing but good things to say about all of you. Thanks to all of you for cleaning up locker rooms and not leaving trash around the rink; Center Ice Arena is PBC’s home, and we appreciate all of you treating it like your home as well.

It was great seeing all of you at our place, helping to grow this great sport we all love and make tons of sacrifices to play. Hope to see you all again...we'll have an update on our own tournament we'll be posting soon!
